TAKAPUNA GRAMMAR SCHOOL
"Alliance Construction, following the building of the Sir Peter Blake Art Technology Centre, won the $6.4million contract to build the Ralph Roberts Students Services Centre. This project encompassed a new library, 10 Social Sciences classrooms, a computer commons and a full Student Services Centre housing all the pastoral services of the school. Alliance Construction have provided a top quality service to the Takapuna Grammar School on two major projects. These buildings have been major investments for the school and its future students.

The company is characterised by their efficiency, ability to work within school constraints and, ultimately, delivering a building on time and on budget.   We have been very clear about our expectations of the buildings, their design and quality. Takapuna Grammar School has been delighted with the quality of the two buildings and will be looking to Alliance Construction to serve the school again when future projects become a reality."

Simon Lamb - Principal, Takapuna Grammar School

KELSTON GIRLS COLLEGE

" Thank you for giving me the opportunity to write in support of Alliance Construction for their work on the alterations and additions at Kelston Girls' College.

We are delighted with our new environment: the administration building is a pleasure to work in.  The builders completed the work in a timely manner and proved a professional team with whom to work.  The alterations to create a new Pastoral, Career and Student Centre and a relocated Hauora (Health and Wellbeing) Centre surpassed our expectations.  Both environments were finished to a very pleasing level.

I wish to make particular reference to Dallas, your Site Foreman.  He was helpful in interpreting the design requirements in a practical manner.  He was always cheerful and courteous and mindful of health and safety issues in an educational environment.

We have been in our new buildings for almost 6 months and continue to be happy with the quality of the build."
Linda Fox - Principal, Kelston Girls College

HENDERSON YOUTH FACILITY
"Waitakere City Council entered into a contract with Alliance Construction in October 2007 for the Retrofit of the former Henderson Library and first floor offices to a Youth Facility and new offices, and the upgrade of the existing Recreation Centre in Alderman Drive, Henderson.

We enjoyed an open communicative relationship with the Alliance team, and found all of the team from Kris MacCauley to the site managers and tradesmen approachable and willing to give the extra time and effort in
proactively addressing and resolving issues. Our main contacts on this contract were Dean McGahey and Charlie Waide, both of whom were totally dedicated to the successful outcome of the project.

The new Youth Facility has been very well received by the public of Waitakere City and is a facility of which the Council is justifiably proud.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Alliance Construction for future construction projects"

Duncan Millar - Project Manager, Waitakere City Council

MANUREWA COSMOPOLITAN CLUB

“Manurewa Cosmopolitan Club entered into a contract with Alliance Construction back in March 2007.

The Club has undergone major alterations – close to four million dollars in value – with Alliance Construction since that time.

Dean McGahey has been our liaison with Alliance Construction over all three stages of the project.  Dean along with his proficient team of tradesmen has been most professional and cooperative.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Alliance Construction for any project and we look forward to working with them again in the future.”
Bob Eagleton - President, Manurewa Cosmopolitan Club

ST THERESE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION BLOCK and LIBRARY
"Our school has been totally transformed.   Every building has been upgraded.  One concern we initially had was that the building work would make teaching and the day to day life of the school difficult.

Our contractors were Alliance Construction and they kept any inconvenience to a minimum.  The safety of the children was paramount and we all appreciated the excellent communication between Alliance and us, throughout the whole project.

The tradesmen were all highly skilled and the upgrading of our school was a very pleasant experience."
Brenda Mauger - principal, St Therese school

CARMEL COLLEGE GYMNASIUM
"I just love showing people round our new gymnasium!

ACL have constructed a superb facility for us, making the most of the lakefront position.  Their Project Control Group members contributed to an effective working relationship with the school and its architect through their attention to detail, their quick response to suggestions and requests, and their initiatives for improvement, particularly in potentially difficult aspects.

It was a challenging design, and ACL through their own staff and their subcontractors more than met the challenge, on time and on budget.

The result is a building we can all be proud of, and I would happily recommend them for any school project.”
Kath Deady - Principal, Carmel College

TAKAPUNA GRAMMAR VISUAL ARTS & TECHNOLOGY BLOCK
"Alliance Construction have recently completed the Arts and Technology Building  with us at Takapuna Grammar School. The design for the building was reasonably complex and the documentation very detailed.
Alliance impressed all with the their desire to become part of the construction team and developed  a good relationship with the consultants and the Client. This could also be seen in the relationship that they had with their sub contractors.

Their project team digested the information given to them and knew what they were building before they started, consequently being proactive during the construction process rather than reactive. This approach was continued through into quality control and as a consequence the building was completed with the minimum of heart ache for all concerned.

All are therefore very pleased that Alliance have now been awarded the contract for the next building for the school which has just started and we look forward to another enjoyable and successful project."
Peter Davidson -  Architect, Architecture Brewer Davidson

CARMEL COLLEGE SCIENCE & MATHS BLOCK
“Carmel College staff are delighted with the new Mary Justine Block, comprising 4 Science Labs and 6 Maths Classrooms.  As a member of the Project Control Group and Principal of the College, I found Alliance Construction Limited a pleasure to work with.

The project was completed on time and under budget, two things which speak volumes for the professionalism and attention to detail of the Alliance group.  Regular and thorough updates were given, and the relationship between Alliance Construction and Aimee Lee, of architects Adams De La Mare was a very positive and productive one.

When difficulties arose, as is inevitable in any building project, alternatives were clearly presented so that the best decision could be made.  The workmen on site were impressive both in the quality of their workmanship and in the respect shown for the culture of the school.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Alliance Construction Ltd to any other school undertaking a building project.”
Kath Deady - Principal, Carmel College

PINEHURST SCHOOL, MUSIC & DRAMA BLOCK
"The design for the music and drama building was driven by both strong architectural and tight pragmatic issues.

The overall form is a simple gesture moving from an intimate human scale within the school to a more publicly scaled facade at the road frontage. The form is both cost effective and architecturally striking

The pattern on the pre-cast is an abstraction of a 5 line music score showing rhythm and movement - coloured glass slot windows dance up down and across the facade like musical notes. Materials and construction systems were chosen to be both complimentary to the existing school buildings and to enable an efficient construction programme.

The project was developed on a short time frame and with a tight budget - Alliance were willing partners in working towards the architectural vision of the building and tied in closely with JASMAX and Pinehurst School to ensure a result that has become the talk of the school. A proactive attitude in problem solving ensured the project stayed on track and all parties have come away from this project highly satisfied with the results."
Justin Evatt - Architect, JASMAX Limited

OCEANBRIDGE REFURBISHMENT
"This project must undoubtedly be Alliance's biggest challenge to date!  The client specification is a constantly moving target, which has necessitated continuous updating of the budget and work programme.  This would try the patience of a saint in normal circumstances, but the professionalism of Alliance's management team, ensures their ability to quickly adapt to the circumstances, and reschedule trades/costs.  I must commend them for their superb attitude to "getting the job done".

A large volume of the demolition and construction work has had to be completed outside normal hours to accommodate tenants' quiet enjoyment clauses in their leases - a big ask of anyone!  Work carried out during business hours has been undertaken with noise and dust level controls in place.  Staff have been very complimentary of Alliance's site management.  In fact, the Site Manager, Tubs ORiley has been accepted as an honorary member of the company's social club."
Jan Baker - Project Manager, M & P Properties

LONG BAY COLLEGE ADMINISTRATION BLOCK
“This term we will open our new staffroom - have we looked forward to that!  Our new building, designed by Adams De La Mare Architects and built by Alliance Construction Ltd, houses two ESOL rooms, a careers centre, function room and copy centre on the ground floor, and a massive staffroom above.

Being so central in the campus, the school and community have enjoyed watching the 10 month journey, from removal of old prefabs to the strong and authoritative building that stands there now.
Perhaps what has been most exceptional has been the ease with which Alliance has worked alongside the staff and students of the college.  Truckloads of steel, concrete, cranes and so forth have all been managed in a way that has caused no interruption to school life.

In particular we have greatly enjoyed working with the site manager, Eddie McLean.  His peaceful and positive approach has been perfect for a major construction surrounded by 1700 students.  Alliance have been welcome partners to Long Bay College community again in 2006.”
Russell Brooke, Associate Principal

ACUSET LTD FIRE RESTORATION
“This three storey commercial building sustained extensive damage by fire, with the top floor being gutted and the second floor also being greatly affected.

Alliance Construction were contracted to completely refurbish the building inside and out.  Existing hardwood flooring required sanding and repolishing, new windows and aluminium joinery were required, right through to the replacement of structural steel members and completely new cladding, plastering and roofing.

Tenants on the ground floor were able to carry on trading from their premises and Alliance Construction ensured that the second floor tenants continued their ‘business as usual’ by relocating them to refurbished areas as the project progressed.

The challenge of delivering the successful rebuilding and restoration of a fire damaged building while some tenants still traded was due in no small measure to the positive attitude of the Alliance Team.  This attitude overcame all the particular problems that are encountered on a fire reconstruction project.”
Norman Lea, Consultant - Connell Wagner Limited

LONG BAY COLLEGE SCIENCE BLOCK
"We have appreciated the close working relationship that has developed between Alliance Construction Limited, Adams De La Mare Architects, Project Manager Alan Milne and the school.  Our Science staff are looking forward to beginning 2006 in their new state-of-the-art laboratories.  Much favourable comment has been received from teachers, Board of Trustees members and students about the overall quality of finish.  Our Science staff were consulted throughout the project and have worked closely with all groups on planning and development of "their" building.

Alliance Construction staff and their sub contractors have worked in this busy school with minimal disruption to normal school operations.  Site Manager, Eddie McLean, was always helpful and accommodating and a pleasure to work with.  The demeanour and manner of all personnel on the site was responsible and professional.

The Science Centre was completed close to the target date despite an extended period of inclement weather during winter that made working in the clay soil very difficult.  We look forward to working with Alliance Construction again early in 2006 when work on the new Atrium Wing to our Administration Block will commence."
Stephanie J Norrie - Principal, Long Bay College

FAIRVIEW METAL INDUSTRIES LTD
"Although Alliance Construction were not the cheapest tenderer for our project, we decided on engaging them because of their professionalism and the ability of Kris, Bruce and Charlie to understand what we required in the budget available.

One of our prerequisites in the tender documents was the new curtain wall system being developed by Aluminium Systems Ltd.  This was to be manufactured in the adjoining building and installed in conjunction with the continuing construction of the office block.

With the support and scheduling ability of David Fryer (the Alliance Construction Site Manager) and Shane Guy (Alliance Construction Contracts Manager) the installation and glazing of the curtain wall system was successfully completed without disruption to other sub-trades and contractors.

FMI has now moved into the completed office block along with two tenants on the ground level. All personnel are delighted with their new work space and the quality of the end product.

Due to the successful nature of the building relationship with Alliance Construction, discussions have commenced regarding two new proposed buildings which will be undertaken by the group later this year."
John McLean - Project Manager, FMI

AVIEMORE DRIVE RETAIL DEVELOPMENT
"Alliance Construction Ltd has worked alongside Construkt Architects Ltd on the Aviemore Drive retail development for Neil Properties over the past 8 months.

Due to the nature of speculative retail developments, and the nature of the ground conditions on this particular contract, changes in the project were inevitable.  These changes were handled professionally by the complete project team which assisted in the smooth completion of the project.

The quality of the finished development is pleasing for all involved; we look forward to future projects with the Alliance Construction Team."
Karl Barker - Architect, Construkt Architects Ltd

ALPHA HEALTHCARE
"Although we had a few major changes in the finishing materials and the extra works added on to this project as well as the delays caused by the shortage of structural steel and the bad weather we had in the last few months, I appreciated the effort of your company in finishing this project on schedule.

I am also pleased with the professionalism of Dean McGahey your construction manager and Shane Guy your contract manager as well as Peter Lunn the site manager who had completed all aspects of work to a very high standard."
Simon Lee - Project Manager , Gladrich N.Z. Ltd

WAVES MOTEL, OREWA
"Waves Motel - Orewa was a complex project made more so by some major changes to the design during construction.

The Team at Alliance administered and implemented these changes with apparent ease, and always with a positive attitude.

I appreciated the sincere and constructive input from all of the team at Alliance in bringing this project to a successful conclusion.

The building speaks for itself."
Ian Inglis - Project Director, Harbour City Developments

LONG BAY COLLEGE - ART AND TECHNOLOGY BLOCK
"This contract involved changing an existing one storied S68 Art and Technical Block, into a two storied modern facility which would be both functional and pleasant to work in.  The latest technology and products available were used with an appreciation of budget restraints.

This challenging project had to be carried out while the school maintained its normal day to day functioning.  Parts of the block were completed early to allow some rooms to be used while the rest were still under construction.

The completed ArTeC block, which was opened by the Prime Minister, is the envy of many teachers of Visual Arts and Technology.

We are delighted with the completed facility”.
Stephanie Norrie - Principal, Long Bay College

KRISTIN SCHOOL DOVE MEMORIAL THEATRE AND AUDITORIUM FOYER EXTENSION
"The original audio-visual in the Arts Centre Complex was virtually demolished to make way for a new 200-seat performance and teaching theatre to complement the school’s 1200-seat Auditorium.

Initial work was carried out during school time in late 2004 and major progress was made during the summer holidays.  Work continued during school time till the project was completed in mid 2005.

Contractors had to work on a restricted site in the centre of the campus with restricted access.  Now completed, students, staff, parents and friends of Kristin are delighted with the result - a stunning new theatre facility with an enhanced foyer and associated landscaping."
Hock Gan - Business Manager, Kristin School
